University of Hyderabad was established on October 2, 1974, by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 39 of 1974) in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, and is recognized by the University Grants Commission. The University of Hyderabad campus is spread over 2300 acres of land, and is located at Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It is home to over 16 schools and special centres, classroom complexes, student, professor, and residential staff quarters, a 24-hour healthcare centre, and an administration block. Furthermore, the UoH campus has a sports field for indoor and outdoor games, a gym, an ATM, a library, a mess, and retail facilities. IGM Library

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library is named after Mrs Indira Gandhi, the late Prime Minister of India. Hostels

The campus has 23 hostels that house around 5000 male and female students. Sports 

University of Hyderabad has sports, games, and yoga facilities for the university community to participate in various games, sports, and fitness activities. The university has a cricket pavilion, running track (400 meters), volleyball court, kho-kho, open karate dojo, badminton court, 4000 sq. feet fitness centre, 4000 sq. feet indoor sports hall which has sports like table tennis, caroms, and chess. It also has a well-maintained grass football field, two synthetic tennis courts, a cemented basketball court, a state-of-the-art fitness centre exclusively for women and a yoga centre for yoga practice and teaching. Central Instruments Laboratory (CIL)

The Central Tools Laboratory (CIL) is a central facility equipped with cutting-edge advanced analytical instruments to serve university academics and researchers. It was founded in 1979 and provided SEM, Confocal Microscopy, Spectroscopy (X-Rays, UV-VIS-IR), Spin Resonance Studies, and Vibrating Magnetometer equipment. Guest House

The campus has three guest houses: Lake View Guest, Visiting Scholar Hostel, and Silver Jubilee Block. Each guest house has a dining facility, air conditioners, wi-fi, and a generator.

Shopping Complex

The University of Hyderabad campus includes two shopping complexes, each on the north and south campuses. Canteens, salons, and grocery store/s are all found in the shopping complexes.

Food Court

Both the north and south campuses of University of Hyderabad have two food courts.

Post Office

A post office is available next to the University of Hyderabad guest house. It is operational between 9:30 am and 5 pm. Speed Post, Registered Mail, and Stamps are all available at the post office.

ATMs

Three ATMs are located on campus: one near the University of Hyderabad administration building, one near the Tagore International House (south campus), and one near the shopping complex (north).

Health Centre

The health centre provides comprehensive basic health care and emergency medical services 24*7. Ex-students, servant quarters residents, sanitary staff, security staff, housekeeping staff, various project staff, Kendriya Vidyalaya campus school students, data entry operators, and various other non-entitled people working in the university can benefit from the facility.

  • Laboratory: Basic blood and urine tests and additional Bio-Chemical tests are available at the lab. The service is accessible from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on all working days.
  • Pharmacy: Medicines are offered free of charge to Health Centre dependents. The service is accessible from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on all working days.
  • Ambulance: The Health Centre has two operational ambulances, one of which works three shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

  • Kathi Mahesh Kumar- He was a well-known television personality who made an appearance on the Telugu version of Big Boss. He was also a critic and performer in the Indian cinema industry. He died in an automobile accident on July 10, 2021.
  • Ganpathi Naresh Patwari- He works as a chemistry professor at IIT Bombay. For his contributions to chemical sciences, he received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 2017.
  • Dhevalapally B. Ramachary is a professor at the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad. He was awarded many awards for his contribution to the field of Science, including the Chancellor Award in 2014, the B. M. University of Hyderabad Online Scholarships

  • Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF)- The Ministry of Minority Affairs created and funds the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students. Students from India's minority communities, such as Muslims, Sikhs, Parsis, Buddhists, and Christians, are eligible for the grant. It is awarded to M.Phil/PhD students in the sciences, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and technology. To be eligible for this grant, students must be from a minority group and have at least 50% marks in PG.
  • Junior Research Fellowship in Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences (JRF)- The fellowship is given to M.Phil/PhD students with degrees in humanities and social sciences, including languages and sciences. To obtain the fellowship, students must need to qualify NET or UGC CSIR test. 
  • Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Scheme for Scheduled Caste (RGNFSC)- The fellowship is given to students of M.Phil/PhD. It is provided on the merit basis of the UGC-NET-JRF or CSIR- NET-JRF test.
  • National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC)-  The initiative was launched in 2014, and gives students from Other Backward Classes (OBCs) more possibilities to pursue higher education and earn degrees such as M.Phil. and PhD.
  • Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for Students with Disabilities- This fellowship is for students with disabilities.
  • National Fellowship for Higher Education of ST Students (NFST) - The fellowship is given to ST students. A total of 750 ST students benefit from the scheme every year. 
  • Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences (SVSGC) - The fellowship is given to girl students who are the only child of their parents. The initiative is taken to promote equality.
  • Telangana Social Welfare Scholarship (Electronic Payment & Application System of Scholarships) – This scholarship is provided by the government of Telangana to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / BC / EBC / Disabled & Minority students.
